Maybe Jdubs are having more children now. It certainly isn't growing due to the success of the door to door work. And we keep hearing of congregations being combined due to their shrinking size and not enough qualified elders. I wouldn't put too much stock in this report.

Jehovah's Witnesses - Once Again the Fastest Growing Faith in the U.S.
by davidl7 inaccording to the latest statistics published by the ncc in its yearbook of american and canadian churches, the jehovah's witnesess had the highest growth rate, in 2010 growing 4.37%.
this is, i believe, is the 4th year in a row, that the witnesses had the highest growth rate.
roman catholics grew by less than 1%, as did most of the other churches listed.

DanaBug I think a lot of young people leave because they are tired of all the rules. Once they get all of the partying out of their systems they might feel guilty and return. There is a big difference between those folks and people who leave because they see through all the lies and don't believe it anymore. The awakened ones rarely return and if they do from what I've seen they suffer mental and physical problems as a result of trying to live a double life.

I did.
Speaking of crazy controlling dub guys. I knew one elder who used to make the sisters kneel before him to check if their skirt length was ok before going out in service. That was just before I started going to the KH. His methods were even too drastic for the Watchtower and I heard that was why the sent another elder to that congregation to get things staightened out.

I went back and read your post because Snowbird told me to and I aways listen to Snowbird. Anyway I'm glad I did. Welcome to the board. I'm sorry you had to go through all of that. The WT treats people like crap but especially women and children. I hope you have the opportunity to go back and finish your education. That would be a great way to kick the Watchtower in the butt figuratively speaking.

during the below symposium each speaker, after talking of some terrible "worldy affliction" that we (as jws) might have succumbed to said in a low dramatic voice : "you...have been contaminated.".
each speaker said this phrase about 3 times ea.

Sorry you had to attend one of those mind numbing events Tresdecu. My wife is at her's today she missed yesterday because her mother was ill. I guess I could use your info to fill her in on what she missed. Sounds like nothing has changed. Same old crap.
What do you do with someone who is contaminated? You quarantine them. That is exactly what the Watchtower is trying to do with its followers. Isolate them from anything that interferes with their programming. Maybe their setting them up for more retrictions. They may be trying again to crack down on Witness who go on the internet and use facebook. They're fighting a losing battle but I don't think they know what else to do.
By the way. How'd you get out of going today?

I think this one will be good. It is on the JFK assassination produce by Leonardo Dicaprio. I'm a big Thom Hartmann fan so I'm looking forward to the book he co-wrote being made into a movie.

by Mary inyesterday, i went out for lunch with my parents when my mother made mention of something she had read in the newspaper about some new discovery of species that went extinct millions of years ago.
she asked my father what method is used to determine the age of something, because of course, this flies directly in face of the biblical account of life on this planet being only a few thousand years old.. anyway, my father related a story that some brother he ran into recently at the assembly told him.
this [unnamed] brother related a story told to him by another [unnamed] elder who knew an [unnamed] circuit serpent who was "really chummy with one of the [unnamed] executives at the royal ontario museum".
